Wizards partner with MedStar Health for Cancer Awareness Night on Nov. 28

Washington, D.C. – The Washington Wizards will host Cancer Awareness Night presented by MedStar Health on Monday, November 28 when the Wizards host the Minnesota Timberwolves at Capital One Arena. Tip-off is 7:00 p.m.

Prior to the game, the game ball will be delivered by MedStar Health cancer patients. MedStar Health’s Section Director of hematology/oncology, Dr. Irina Veytsman, will provide fans with tips to live a healthy lifestyle and talk about MedStar Health’s latest work in the areas of cancer prevention and treatment.

On the concourse, fans will be able to fill out a large ‘I Fight For…’ sign where those in attendance can write positive messages to those battling cancer. Following the Wizards’ November 28th game, the sign will be displayed at a local MedStar Health hospital. In addition, the night will feature health facts from MedStar Health professionals and the 202 Crew will wear cancer awareness branded t-shirts. Photos of ‘I Fight For…’ signs created by Wizards players and staff will also be shown throughout the game.

During halftime, a ringing of the bell ceremony for a MedStar Health patient who has just entered remission will take place.

Earlier this month, Wizards alumni Phil Chenier and Gheorghe Mureșan, along with G Wiz, visited MedStar Washington Hospital Center, and patients from MedStar Georgetown Cancer Institute at Washington Hospital Center wrote personalized messages to their favorite Wizards players.
