Willoughby Public Library hosting ‘New Year, New You!’ event

Those who need help with their New Year’s resolutions are invited to join the Willoughby Public Library on Jan. 14 for its annual event “New Year, New You!”

This special, all-day health and wellness fair begins at 9:30 a.m. and runs until 4:30 p.m., according to a news release

The schedule of events will be:

• Free Health Screenings by UH Lake Health. Stop by between 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Study Room A for free hearing, glucose and blood pressure screenings for all ages courtesy of Revere Hearing Center.

• Parent and Me Yoga Time. At 10 a.m., join Erika from Wellness Traditions for a fun yoga time for parents and children.

• Chair Yoga for All. At 11 a.m., join Erika from Wellness Traditions for an inclusive yoga opportunity utilizing chair yoga. Ideal for beginners or those wanting to get back into practice, the release stated.

• What is Integrative/Holistic Medicine? At noon, join Dr. Naoki Umeda from the Cleveland Clinic and learn about integrative and holistic therapies and if they may be right for you.

• Create Your Vision for 2023. At 1 p.m., create a visual display of goals for the new year. Experts will discuss methods people may use to clarify goals and represent them visually. Use a vision board throughout the year as a reminder to stay on a chosen path. All materials will be provided, the release stated.

• Make and Take Aromatherapy. From 2 to 2:30 p.m., join Maggie Kimble from Willow Reiki & Aromatherapy and learn about the benefits of aromatherapy. Participants will take home their own sample.

• Chakras and You. From 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., join Reiki practitioner Pamela as she demystifies Chakras and the impact they have on bodies, the release stated. Pamela will discuss where each Chakra is located and how life energy flows through them. She will also provide tips for keeping a person’s Chakras open and balanced.

• 1-on-1 NARCAN Training. From 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., learn how to detect an opioid overdose and to administer NARCAN. All participants will receive a free NARCAN kit. Call ahead for appointment.
