Addressing a public gathering near the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) campus in Nagpur after its inauguration, Prime Minister Narendra Modi slammed the political parties engaged in “shortcut politics” and urged people to expose those parties who are spending on vote banks.

Ridiculing the opposition with the phrase ‘aamdani athanni, kharcha rupaiya’, Modi said, “We can’t let shortcut politics dictate the fate of the country.”

In his address, the PM said, “I want to warn you against short-cut politics. Those political leaders adopting short-cuts are the biggest enemies of the country.”
“Those who aim to gain power by making false promises can’t make a government. I urge them to understand the importance of development,” he said adding that the focus of his government is infrastructure development with a holistic vision and approach.
Modi said some political parties are betraying the voters by doing politics for short-term gains.

He called for a permanent solution with a long-term vision for the overall development of the country and pointed out the outcome of the Gujarat elections as the victory of the present government’s long-term vision for the development of India.
Today, for the first time, there is a government in the country, which has given a human touch to infrastructure projects, Modi said.
Modi arrived on Sunday morning in Nagpur where he inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) along with several other projects including Samruddhi Mahamarg. He also laid the foundation stone of Phase- II of the rail project in the city.

Referring to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) landslide victory in Gujarat, Modi said there are no short-cuts and there should be permanent stability for the development. “Short-cuts are not the way to development,” he added.

“If the principle of ‘aamdani athanni, kharcha rupaiya, is followed in our politics, the consequences would be a bleak picture of the country’s economy. The country today does not believe in the concept of shortcuts. Voters know the implications of shortcuts and they also know what is good for them in the long run,” Modi said.
He pointed out that one Gosikhurd Irrigation project in Vidarbha region was started in the 1980s with an outlay of ₹400 crore, but it could not be completed even after three decades and now the present government has initiated to complete it soon.
Modi gifted an infrastructure package worth ₹75,000 crore to Nagpur and asserted that it was possible due to combined efforts of a “double-engine” government of BJP-led regimes of state and centre.

Modi said the development projects were stalled but the new government took them seriously and laid the road map for a prosperous state. “These projects give a holistic vision of infrastructure in the state. It is proof of how fast the double-engine government in Maharashtra and at the centre is working,” he added.
